A Generation of Destiny

by Paul Keith Davis

The Lord is preparing a body of spiritual warriors to emerge in our generation to meet the scripturally foretold challenges and prophetic destiny ordained for our age. One of the greatest mandates of all time is to cooperate with the Holy Spirit to taste the good Word of God and the powers of the age to come and see the Biblical directive in Numbers 14:21 fulfilled—to be the instruments by which He fills the whole Earth with His glory.

So the LORD said, "I have pardoned them according to your word; but indeed, as I live, all the earth will be filled with the glory of the LORD — Numbers 14:20-21

Like Abraham, it is our heart’s cry, "My lord, if now I have found favor in your sight, please do not pass your servant by” (Genesis 18:3). Our earnest desire and highest aspiration is to be the chosen generation through which the Lord imparts revelation and expression of His nature, character and power that we may begin to fill the entire Earth with God’s Glory. That would be the fulfillment of the awesome prayer outlined by the Lord Himself, “Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven”.

We have the incredible privilege of living in the generation that will witness the unveiling of great mysteries and hidden secrets reserved for the “time of the end.” (Daniel 12:4). Thankfully, the Holy Spirit is beginning to unleash “great and mighty things” related to our prophetic mandate. These Scriptural directives impart insight with understanding concerning the revelation of His Glory.

With perfect certainty, there will be a company of people who reside in this place of promise. Just as surely as the prophetic fulfillment of the restoration of the Jewish people to the land of Israel miraculously took place; so also will there be the divinely motivated establishment of the Bride to her inheritance.

In the same way we witnessed the awakening of the Jewish people to their homeland, so will the Bride of Christ be awakened to her birthright. There will initially be a message of restoration for those with ears to hear followed by times of intense tribulation and difficulty driving the people to the fulfillment of God's Word.

Fishers and Hunters

Early one morning just as the sun was rising; I heard a voice in a dream saying, "I am going to send both the fishers and the hunters." Naturally, I initially related this pointed statement to the restoration of the Jewish people to their native land and the establishment of a sovereign state. I later discovered a broader application of this certainty.

One of the most profound prophetic accomplishments in human history is the restoration of the Jewish people following the Diaspora. Never before has a nation been dead for almost 20 centuries and then reborn in accordance with prophecies recorded over 2,500 years ago.

Even so, our generation has witnessed this astounding fact and we recognize only God's sovereign power could accomplish such a miraculous undertaking. Gods Word cannot fail. Every “jot and tittle” will be accomplished in its entirety.

As the LORD lives, who brought up the sons of Israel from the
land of the north and from all the countries where He had
banished them.

For I will restore them to their own land which I gave to their fathers. Behold, I am going to send for many fishermen," declares the LORD, "and they will fish for them; and afterwards I shall send for many hunters, and they will hunt them from every mountain and every hill, and from the clefts of the rocks - Jeremiah 16:15-16

Jeremiah prophesied the manner by which the Lord would execute this notable task after many centuries of dispersion, persecution and murder. He foresaw the Lord would birth in the hearts of men, the vision of restoration of a natural homeland and entice the Jewish people to return to their inheritance. They were the "fishers" who delivered a message of restoration and promise.

The Fishers Message

Among them were great leaders such as Theodore Herzl who was recognized as the founder of modern Zionism. He laid the foundation for the creation of sovereign rule in 1896 through his book, "The Jewish State". Another was Chaim Weizman, the first president of the Jewish state and creator of the World Zionist Organization aimed at encouraging Jews worldwide to help develop and settle Israel. The Hebrew language was reintroduced under the leadership of Eliezer Ben-Jehudah and others.
As is generally the case when the Lord births something new, the “restorers” views were met with mixed reactions among the Jewish community. Nehemiah also encountered similar opposition in his commission for the reestablishment of the Temple. In spite of the resistance and difficulties, there would be a people who returned and fulfilled this Biblical mandate.

Their message awakened in the hearts of many Jewish people the desire to return to their own land. Many were willing to forsake the wealth, friendships and security of the nations in which they were sojourning to return to their heritage. The early “pioneers” laid the foundation for the economic and social rebirth of the Jewish nation. They paved the way for the Lord's timing when conditions were ripe to possess the land promised to Abraham and his seed.

Also I will restore the captivity of My people Israel, and they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them; they will also plant vineyards and drink their wine, and make gardens and eat their fruit. I will also plant them on their land, and they will not again be rooted out from their land which I have given them," says the LORD your God — Amos 9:14-15

“Zionism" became a rallying cry for the Jewish people and many from Europe and Russia answered the call. They were provoked by the proud beliefs of the Zionist movement. It proved to be an awakening in many for rebuilding the country. During the years 1882-1905 more than 25,000 Jews arrived in the land of Palestine, mostly from Eastern Europe. Between 1905 and the outbreak of WWI another 40,000 immigrated.

The Hunters

Following the "Fishers," another form of motivation began to emerge in the form of the "hunters." The intense persecution and anti-Semitism prevailing throughout Europe and especially Russia during the late 19th and early 20th centuries began to hasten the development of modern Zionism. Finally, the genocide of Hitler's insanity forged another exodus driving the Jewish people to the creation of a state and their independence.

God used these persecutions to press the Jewish masses home although it was Satan's brash intent to completely eradicate worldwide Jewry and circumvent the ultimate plan of God. As it turned out, because of the atrocities of the Holocaust, the horrified nations of the world granted official sanctions for a Jewish state and on May 14, 1948 Israel was born. Over the following three decades almost 2 millions Jews would return to their homeland. Naturally, the numbers have increased substantially since then.

Our Fishers and Hunters

It is an interesting observation to note that in 1896 when Theodore Hertzl published his book “The Jewish State,” arousing the Jewish people to the restoration of their inheritance, Alexander Dowie was also in Zion Illinois commissioning an apostolic ministry and awakening the Church to the restoration of her inheritance. Likewise, in 1948 with the official recognition of the Jewish state, the Church was also experiencing a massive Healing Revival. It is clear there is an undeniable link between Israel and the Church.

At the same time the Lord was restoring the land of Israel and eventually Jerusalem into the hands of the Jewish people, he was also awakening the Church to her inheritance. In the same manner the Jewish people were dispersed among the nations of the earth, so also were Spirit-filled Christians scattered among the many religious institutions and organizations following the compromise of Nicea in 325 AD.

Israel realized her prophetic fulfillment with the establishment of a sovereign state. Likewise, the Bride residing in her full inheritance must also be apprehended. Heaven will retain the Lord Jesus until that covenant declaration is accomplished. As with Israel, there will be the perfect accomplishment of God's word relative to the Bride of Christ who have been betrothed to Him and know His intimate chambers.

A Prophetic Lure

Our spiritual “Promised Land” is in view and God's mandate will be accomplished. He will first utilize the “fishers” to entice and lure many to this spiritual domain through a prophetic message of restoration of our desolate heritages. Then He will allow the “hunters” to drive still others from necessity to the place of promise. There will be an overcoming body who will occupy their birthright. The Scriptures declare it to be so.

The Lord has always had His faithful remnant throughout Church history that modeled their faith according to the standards established by the early Church. Numerous end-time prophecies within the Scriptures will become timely as the Church is fashioned according to His design. The full stature of the apostolic Church will be functioning in our day that shapes a “called-out” body of believers to function in Kingdom power and authority.

The time of the end is a period for revealing and reinstating truth and exposing the hidden things of darkness. "Restorers" are beginning to emerge with a “fishers” anointing that will birth desire in the hearts of Christians for the full measure of God, regardless of the opposition.

But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. Therefore He says: "Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light. See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. -Ephesians 5:13-16

The rebuilding of our apostolic heritage can be achieved through desperate hearts pursuing the Lord and the fullness of His heritage awakened through the “fishers”. It can also be experienced through persecution or God's discipline on “spiritual Babylon,” driving His covenant people to the land of their promise by the “hunters”.

The Lord has pledged to reverse the captivity of His people and be jealous for His Holy Name. At that time we will forget the shame and reproach of our unfaithfulness and begin to dwell securely in the land of our promise. Through His justice and holiness He will set apart and vindicate His people from the hand of their enemies. This is true both for natural and spiritual Israel.

It is our prayer that each will receive with hearing ears and sincere hearts the message of the “fishers” and respond to the call to enter our destiny. It will behoove us to notice the example of the Jewish people according to the admonition of the Apostle Paul for therein we discovery God's ways.

Defeating Compromise

by Paul Keith Davis & Bob Jones

Clearly this nation and the church are presently going through a great shaking. Naturally, our first question is to understand the Holy Spirit’s objective during this season. What do we need to gleam from these tests and trials?

As I have been asking the Lord this question I was reminded of a prophetic article that Bob Jones and I brought several years ago. Much of our ministry has been centered on understanding prior moves of the Spirit to discover what was done properly and what caused the downfall of many.

According to Hebrews 13:7, we should study and contemplate the lives of our spiritual fathers and examine carefully the conduct of their actions. We are given the admonition to imitate their faith because Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:7-8) If we meet the Lord on the same conditions of faith as our fathers, then He will do through us what He did through them and much more.

Many noble qualities exemplified the men and women who went before us. They were great pioneers and forerunners who paved the way for us to enjoy the many spiritual benefits we hold dear. Nevertheless, we also learn historically that every prior revival has been lost or never fully accomplished its original mandate.

Scrutiny of these revivals will highlight one principal spirit of a diabolical nature that has facilitated this demise. It can simply be identified as the “spirit of compromise.”

It is our belief that a portion of this present shaking is intended to help us address this undermining snare so that the Spirit’s release that is coming can be perpetually sustained.

A Graveyard of Warriors

In Bob's original vision he saw many churches and spiritual movements allegorically portrayed as powerful warring women who had won many notable victories. Even so, he also discovered they came to an untimely demise. He was taken to a graveyard that held the remains of this army of God. Clearly, their lives had been taken prematurely without the full accomplishment of their destiny and Bob’s mission was to discovery how such a thing could occur.

The churches portrayed in Bob’s revelation had been mightily anointed. They had won great victories on behalf of their Bridegroom. Even though these “women” were incredible warriors, something tragic had occurred to precipitate their demise. How could such a powerful warlike clan end with such violence and certainty as characterized in the graveyard Bob observed?

This resulted from unknowingly embracing the “spirit of compromise” that facilitated the substitution of the spirit of this world for the Holy Spirit. What the enemy could not accomplish in head-to-head battle he easily achieved through this deceptive snare.

This is actually the same strategy that Balaam utilized against Israel. When he was unsuccessful in cursing God’s chosen people he altered his approach. What he could not perpetuate in direct confrontation he easily accomplished through stumbling blocks and snares facilitated through compromise.

It is our present intent to again highlight this blueprint of the enemy in hopes of strengthening the church with the spirit of wisdom and revelation so that our heritage is not lost in this generation. The New Testament reminds us of this demonic strategy from the spirit of Balaam in both Jude and the book of Revelations. It is a battle that we must learn to win.

Work In Daylight; Rest At Night

Prophetically, there are appropriate times and seasons in God. There is a time to sow and then a time to reap; a time for working and then a time for rest.

There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven—A time to give birth and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted. A time to kill and a time to heal; a time to tear down and a time to build up —Ecclesiastes 3:1-3

Logistically, the church has not been very efficient in recognizing these seasons. As a result, we expose ourselves to the spirit of this world and end up compromising our standards when we do not adjust with the ebb and flow of God’s Spirit. There is a way that seems right and appropriate to man’s reasoning but the end is destruction.

We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work. John 9:4

Spiritually speaking the day is the proper time for work–-night is not. This is the general and universal sentiment related to the release of spiritual light into a grossly dark generation. While the day lasts it is proper to labor.

In Bob's vision he saw Churches represented as noble women who had fought gallantly during daylight hours. However, they grew weary and impatient waiting upon their Bridegroom and eventually ventured out during the night hours and entered into promiscuity.

They had grown weary waiting upon their Bridegroom to fulfill His promises to her. Unwisely, they had joined themselves to men (who represented the spirit of this world or human reasoning) whose initial appearance seemed good and beneficial but whose heart was evil. This resulted in spiritual assassination when these women least expected it. However, the question remained, “What led them to such an inadvisable decision?” Of course this is an allegorical depiction of spiritual realities.

After making these few observations, Bob desired to depart the graveyard that was actually a shrine to commemorate our enemy’s victories. However, before he could do so, a very naturally appealing, “smooth talking” man approached him. This man confronted Bob with the confidence and assurance of a professional salesperson. He explicitly displayed a mastery of the human language and could easily deceive someone with this gift. No doubt this is the way Satan approached the Lord Jesus during the 40 day wilderness temptation.

Immediately, Bob asked this man his identity. The man responded by identifying himself as “compromise”. It was “compromise” that was responsible for the death of these powerful women. They had compromised the genuine for a counterfeit. They had substituted the revealed word of God for the traditions of man.

And He (Jesus) said to them, "Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: "THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME. "BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.' "Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men." — Mark 7:6-8
But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons; by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron - 1 Timothy 4:1-2

Despite the women’s powerful attributes and their numerous victories, their strength was no match for “compromise”. Compromise will always destroy the most powerful of warriors.

Samson was the most anointed man of his day; yet compromise in one small area of his life cost him the anointing and the many victories that could have been achieved had he remained faithful. It was the Lord's great grace that restored Samson in the end and allowed one final victory with his death. However, it would have been the much greater testimony to remain faithful to the end giving no place to compromise.

Inconceivable as it may seem at first; this was the same bold form by which the enemy embodied the idea of entrapping the Lord by a compromise with evil at the outset of the Lord’s earthly ministry. It was an appeal to the holy purpose for which the Lord came into the earth, but upon the grounds of doing evil that good might come. Satan offered the kingdoms of this world to the Lord through an unholy alliance and a compromise of the plan of God.

The Kingdom was to be won, but in the way ordained by God and in the manner foretold in scripture. “Compromise” will claim to carry us to the goal we are destined to achieve in a way that seems expedient and convenient, but the end is destruction. There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death -Proverbs 14:12

The Death of Compromise

In Bob's vision a holy jealousy and righteous anger arose in his heart because of the damage caused by "compromise." He knew that compromise had to be destroyed and the only weapon for this purpose is the same one the Lord Jesus utilized in His confrontation with this spirit— The Word of God.

The living Word is like a mighty sword that forges deep into the heart of this enemy. As The Scriptures declare,

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do— Hebrews 4:12-13

With this discovery, Bob confidently walked toward “compromise” and allowed the sword of God’s Word to fall into position in his hand and buried it deep into the heart of “compromise”. It was “compromise” that had caused the death of the “warring women” (the churches). Authority from God’s Word is now placed in our hands to destroy this life threatening spirit.

By grace, the Lord is releasing to this generation the wisdom and authority needed to identify and defeat this great enemy of the church. This victory is assured if we are willing to obediently heed the Lord’s voice and DO THE WILL OF THE FATHER. Faithful adherence to the Word of God will always bring death to the spirit of compromise.

Learning From the Past

Instead of being at home caring for their family, the “women” (churches and movements) allowed “compromise” to deceive them into unlawful relationships. There are appropriate times and seasons for the purposes of God. There is a time to minister unto the Lord and oversee His sheep. We have been in a season focused on equipping the body of Christ to do the work of the ministry.

In Bob's symbolic vision the "women" left their post of duty and wandered into promiscuous relationships with the spirit of this world resulting in defeat. Sometimes things do not appear fruitful to the natural eye that are actually exceedingly rewarding in the realm of the Spirit. That is why our eyes must be focused on the eternal realm rather than the natural. Otherwise, a door can be opened to the spirit of compromise.

Behold, I will throw her on a bed of sickness and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds. "And I will kill her children with pestilence, and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds. — Revelations 2:22-23

The Lord is to be the husband of the church and any relationship with man that usurps the rightful position of the Lord as Bridegroom is considered spiritual adultery. The spirit of compromise will always try to convince the covenant people of God to relinquish their promised heritage for a counterfeit relationship that seems appropriate at the time.

That was the teaching of Balaam that eventually led Israel into God’s judgment. Balaam was unable to curse Israel, therefore he convinced her to compromise her covenant with God by intermingling with Balak and the people of Moab.

And Moses said to them, "Have you spared all the women? "Behold, these caused the sons of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, so the plague was among the congregation of the LORD.

Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man intimately. "But all the girls who have not known man intimately, spare for yourselves
— Numbers 31:15-18

Ours is an admonition of separation and purity while patiently waiting on the promised union with the Lord Jesus. It is the counsel of “compromise” to lead us away from that position at all costs.

The "way of Balaam" is the covetous conduct of the ones structurally described as “hirelings,” whose primary motive is to commercialize their divine gift.

Forsaking the right way, they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness — 2 Peter 2:15

The "teaching of Balaam" is the teaching of the mercenary ministry counseling the church to abandon Godly separation and noble character in favor of worldly conformity.

But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts of immorality— Revelations 2:14

Very often, following this path will seemingly bring quick results and attract scores of people with much less spiritual resistance. Nonetheless, the conclusion after all has been done is death and fruitlessness.

Balaam taught Balak to corrupt the people who could not be cursed by seducing them to marry Moabite women and commit spiritual adultery. That is the motivation of “compromise” as outlined in Bob’s vision. He could not conquer these gallant “warring women” in battle, therefore the only hope for victory was to corrupt them by seduction with the spirit of the world.

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God— 1 Corinthians 2:12

If the “women” had remained at their appointed abode, as was their initial responsibility, they would have become fruitful and productive. Because they allowed “compromise” to deceive them, their lives were ended and their children were left to be raised as orphans in an unsupervised manner. The Lord desires women (churches) to be loyal to their Husband and abundantly fruitful— producing offspring to the glory of God.

Compromise will always lead us into wrong relationships. Concession leads to death while faithfulness leads to repentance, answered prayer and victory. Even though the “night hours” seem long and sometimes lonesome, it would be compromise to depart from that place of responsibility and enter relationships unlawfully leading to our demise.

With those conclusions, Bob departed the mountain, realizing the destructive qualities of compromise.

A Glorious Future

The most grievous aspect of the vision was the great future forfeited by the powerful women (churches) here illustrated. Even though they had been victorious and productive, their most rewarding years were ahead of them if they could have overcome the deceptions of “compromise”.

These churches had been powerfully anointed warriors of the faith. The enemy was unable to destroy them during the “day” seasons but only during the “night.” If the women had remained in their post of duty, the enemy would have had no access or opportunity to destroy them. Nevertheless, weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes with the morning light.

All of the strongholds of the enemy are designed to obscure our knowledge of God and His thoughts and ways through discouragement, depression and self-pity. When our vision has been thus impaired, alternative courses are introduced that will seemingly take us to our desired destination but are not the “thoughts and ways” of God. We must not be willing to give an inch in our commitment to the Lord and our walk with Him— not even for the most noble of causes.

Through this prophetic analogy, the women lost their first love and compromised their chastity to follow the leadership of men whom they perceived would make them more fruitful and productive. In reality, their decision cost them their lives. Our battlefield is in the souls of men where our mind, will, and emotions reside. The weapon of our warfare is divinely powerful...THE WORD OF GOD RIGHTFULLY APPROPRIATED BY THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH.

For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ— 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

It is through faith AND patience that we inherit the great promises that are rightfully ours. The greatest days for the Church of Jesus Christ are directly ahead of us. Our desolate heritages are being restored to be mingled with the fresh and unprecedented release of God’s great grace. Even so, Lord Jesus...come.

Restoring Lost Heritage

by Wanda Davis

The Lord first began to speak to me approximately two years ago concerning the true experience of being filled with His Spirit. We circulated portions of this revelation in the January 2004 newsletter. During this present season the Lord is once again emphasizing this spiritual reality and its vital importance to transition into what is coming and apprehend the fullness of our heritage.

The Lord has been showing us that the Church as a whole needs to be more fully awakened to the genuine experience of being filled with His Spirit. Otherwise, even the Pentecostal movement can fall into the condition of having a form of godliness but without His power.

This word was passionately birthed in my heart and has escalated in its relevance since then. Additionally, I had an experience in December 2002, in which I heard the Lord's heart of intercession. He was groaning in prayer for us, the Church, to begin to function in the “Spirit arena more so than the souls arena.”

There is a huge difference between “contending” and “striving.” Jude 1:3 tells us to contend earnestly for the faith that was once and for all established with our spiritual fathers. Contending is accomplished in the spirit arena while striving is motivated through soulish effort or human reasoning. Much of what has been done in the past has been initiated more so from the soul than the Spirit.

We must be led by the Spirit rather than the wisdom and counsel of men that is birthed in the mind, will and emotions of the soul. That is more of the Martha mentality while the Lord desires for us to be modeled after Mary.

It is not my might nor by power but by my spirit" says the Lord of hosts --- Zechariah 4:6.

The Kingdom of Heaven is not established by human striving but diligent contention for our spiritual heritage and the faith upon which it was first built. The true experience of being filled with the Holy Spirit, as demonstrated on the Day of Pentecost, is a monumental step in realizing this process. This spiritual awakening is not a religious event but a birthing of spiritual reality internally; then outward expressions of this inward reality begin to manifest in a transformed life and a fruitful journey with the Lord.

The Spiritual Awakening

In our natural bodies, physical pain forces us to awaken when we have been asleep. It obligates us to pay immediate attention to a specific need and drives us to look deeper into the truth. In other words, it motivates us to examine closer the cause of a problem instead of the symptom. I believe the corporate Church is facing a spiritual pain that is pressing us awake.

I recently attended a meeting where I heard someone say “this has happened on our watch” referring to the many spiritual concerns facing the western Church. This person was pointing to the distinct and valid issues we are compelled to address in this day. I totally agree that we are responsible for numerous things that have entered on our watch. However, to more fully broach this subject I believe there is a need for us to understand that compromise actually infiltrated the church many centuries ago. Some of the problems of today we have created...others we inherited. How we now respond to our present condition is the defining issue.

Just as “Rome wasn't built in a day,” we haven't experienced the full effect of compromise in one generation. The present condition of the Church has been a progression of seeds sown many years ago. We cannot merely address the fruit of those things, but strike the root of the tree.

We are now in the day of restoration promised through the prophet Joel. This process began first with Martin Luther and his message of justification by faith. Secondly, John Wesley recovered the message of sanctification by the washing of the Word. Thirdly, the baptism of Holy Spirit was reintroduced corporately in the last 100 years. The Azuza Street outpouring helped launch this awareness and spiritual restoration. Perhaps it is valid to assume that the last 100 years could be considered our watch!

It could certainly be supported that within the past 40 years we have allowed the sacred experience of being Holy Spirit filled to be watered down and diluted to a superficial level. It is never our intent to be critical but we must identify the root cause of our condition in order to apprehend a remedy. John G. Lake acknowledged that his generation missed the mark and lost the day of their visitation because of a lack of appreciation and understanding of being Spirit filled. Could that have affected the condition we are faced with in our generation as well?

Unfortunately, many segments of the corporate Church have resolved being Holy Spirit filled according to the Acts 2 model, as an optional experience or somehow unnecessary. Still others have equated Him to speaking in tongues only. In no way should we minimize speaking in tongues as part of our heritage. We as believers should have this as an integral part of our daily prayer language. This is a vital form of communication between our spirits with the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit was poured out they did speak in tongues and were endued with power to do the work of the ministry

The Scripture plainly supports the position that the early disciples were empowered to cast out demons, heal the sick and do other aspects of the ministry. However, we discover that the disciples were actually commissioned and functioning in that purpose before the Day of Pentecost. (Matthew 10:8; Luke 10:8)

Whatever city you enter and they receive you, eat what is set before you; and heal those in it who are sick, and say to them, "The kingdom of God has come near to you”....These seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name. And He said to them, "I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you - Luke 10:8-9 & 17-19

Most importantly, the infilling of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost changed their character. Before that experience we discover some of the disciples jostling for personal position in the Kingdom and attempting to discover who would sit on the Lord's right and left hand. Neither did they possess the personal strength nor fortitude to remain awake and "watch" with the Lord in His hour of greatest need. Furthermore, they were afraid to be identified with Him and even denied that they knew Him.

Nevertheless, following the Acts 2 experience of being baptized in the Holy Spirit, something was radically changed their nature internally. Before the experience they were afraid of losing their life and being identified with Christ. After, they freely gave their life for Him. Their nature had been transformed. This likewise allowed for an even greater measure of power and authority to do the work of the ministry.

A greater capacity was imparted to them through the Holy Spirit that allowed the comprehension of truth with understanding. Mysteries they were unable to apprehend before the experience now became clear. The Holy Spirit led them into all truth. These are the true evidences of being filled with the Spirit. The Lord said,

I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. John 16:12-13

Clearly, a key for our generation is to also experience the Holy Spirit in like fashion. The Lord wants to impart the Living Truth, not a truth. The baptism of the Holy Spirit produces all of these elements of His attributes that are essential for us to fulfill our commission in this generation. The question is being asked, are we willing to lay down our lives for this reality?

Undoubtedly, having witnessed the crucifixion first hand and the brutality of His sufferings must have left a lasting impression upon the initial disciples. However, we also find Paul and many others throughout early Church history who were equally as devoted though they did not personally witness the crucifixion. The Spirit resident in them provided a vivid reality of the cross. He will do likewise today!

It is not our desire to return to Pentecost but we do desperately need the fullness of the Pentecostal experience that birthed the apostolic church. That same empowerment will equip us to overcome the spirit of compromise that entered the Church in 325 AD. It will allow us to strike the root of unbelief and compromise and move forward into maturity as His sons and daughters.

WhiteDove Ministries Conference

WhiteDove Ministries is pleased to announce that we will be partnering with Pastor Tim Franklin and Freedom Worship Center to host "In the Mantle 3" conference November 10-12, 2005. In actuality, we will be conducting duel conferences simultaneously.

We will have one conference for general registration at the Freedom Christian Center facility while at the same time a young adult conference just down the road. We have only enough capacity for approximately 250 young adults for this conference, therefore early registration is recommended.

The speakers for both events will be myself, Bob Jones, Shawn Bolz and Chuck Pierce. JoAnn McFatter will be leading worship.

We feel this to be an extremely strategic meeting and hope all of our friends and partners can participate.
