You must seek all of His heart, All of His mind, All of His Spirit
(The following article was written by Martha Caizales, one of our young adults on staff with WhiteDove Ministries. I read her article like a proud father. I was immensely encouraged by the revelation entrusted to her and her desire to know the Lord fully. I pray you will be equally as encouraged… Paul Keith Davis)
Neville Johnson recently spoke at the WhiteDove Ministries “Preparing for Harvest” conference in May about the passing of His daughter, who was my age when she gave up her life as seed for the harvest. He challenged every young person to make a decision to be a son of the Kingdom and sign up for the Lord’s end time army. I was moved to not let all the seeds of those that have given up their lives for the gospel go to waste. There is a special grace being released to those that are determined; those that are hungry. God is offering that special relationship. He is inviting us as sons of the Kingdom to walk with Him like Enoch did. I aspire to be one that accepts this honorable invitation.
About a week after the conference The Lord gave me a dream. In the dream I was in an old style drama theater. There were young people preparing for an outreach in that particular community. I was standing in the very front, just below the stage, facing the audience. I had a clear view of Neville Johnson and his daughter. To my surprise Neville’s daughter had a new born baby in her arms. In my dream, I knew it was the daughter that had passed away.
Another thing that I was a little surprised by was that his daughter had medium brown hair; I was surprised at this simply because Neville has sandy blondish hair. My ears were in tune with what they were saying even if they were in the middle of the drama theater. And his daughter kept kissing his cheek and saying “you’re my hero” several times. Just then a young guy came up to Neville and was somehow trying to impress him saying “you got to seek Him with all of your heart, with all of your mind and with all of your soul.” (Scripture says “Love” versus “seek” in this particular passage found in several places Mt 22:37)
Neville turned to him and responded as he and his daughter stood up and began to walk towards the front where I was standing and watching. There was a door to the right of where I was standing. And he said “no it’s not like that, you see, you must first seek all of HIS heart, all of HIS mind, and all of His Spirit. And if you do this,” he paused for just a second and turned his eyes to me and peered into my eyes with intensity and with seriousness and authority and said, “It will BLOW your MIND away!” according to 1 Corinthians 2:9-11:
No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him. But God has revealed it to us by His spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the spirit of God”
As soon as the last word left his mouth my mind was struck by the unseen force of wisdom and understanding. It was so shocking and overwhelming that I held my head and crouched into a fetal position, even grinding my teeth. In that moment I had some understanding that we must stop trying to seek God from within our own soulish ways, without faith in who He IS and start seeking what is inside of Him; which is the Spirit of Truth, placing the attention and focus on Him.
We must seek all of His heart (His Love, His Grace, His Compassion, The purposes of His heart), all of His mind (His perception, His wisdom, His knowledge, His plans), and all of His Spirit. (Read 1 Corinthians chapter 2 Wisdom from the spirit)
Hebrews 11:5-6 declares:
By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away, for before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek HIM.
When we do this, we are enabled to obey His first and greatest commandment to “Love the Lord with all of your heart, mind, soul and strength”, along with the second commandment to “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Neville’s words to me simply yet powerfully meant—don’t just get to know about him but get to KNOW HIM fully! In that place, you will not only know what Love is but you will become Love. No longer just in knowledge but in reality.
When we get to know the Lord in His entirety we see his beauty, his kindness, his majesty, and we can not help but in that moment love Him with our entire being! When we begin to “know” the thoughts and purposes in His heart we are then compelled to line up with those plans and become Harvesters for the Kingdom. Toward the end of the dream Neville and his daughter and grandchild walked through the brightly lit doorway that was to the right of where I was standing.
I’m not clear on all of the interpretation but here is the just of what I feel some of the interpretation might be.
I believe the first part where the young people were getting ready for the outreach symbolizes preparation for the harvest to come. And it’s coming soon! But getting to know God and His purposes are a big part of the harvest. The young guy who was trying to impress Neville with knowledge of scripture, I think represents our generation. We give the impression that we know it all, but deep down we are hungry for understanding and wisdom. Neville, I believe represented leadership, whose responsibility is to lead and encourage us to go after the Lord with our entirety, and challenge us to really KNOW HIM and line up with his will. The grandchild represented the seed that many saints have sown throughout history.
I pray that all of us are encouraged to go after HIM with everything that is within us. By accepting the invitation into this special relationship, The Lord will empower us during the harvest season.
